Glade Run Lake site of stocking, fishing Saturday

Kaylen Yaracs, an 11-year-old fifth-grader at Butler Middle School, gives a group of sixth-graders a tour of the school's fisheries program nursery. Yaracs showed the students a tank containing a group of channel catfish that'll be released into Glade Run Lake this Saturday.

MIDDLESEX TWP — A particularly fishy day is coming to Glade Run Lake Saturday.

Two school programs, one old and one new, will hold a day of fishing and fish stocking at the lake. An ongoing class at Butler's Intermediate High School and a newer program at Butler Middle School will each be depositing fish raised by science classes into the lake.

Registrants in the event, ages 16 and above, who would ordinarily need a license to legally fish will be able to cast their lines freely from noon to 3 p.m.

Students will release their stocks of channel catfish at 10 a.m. Programming continues throughout the morning to a noon brook trout stocking. Family fishing is planned through 3 p.m.
