BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler First Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have Gordon Thompson presenting the music Sunday.

Christ Community UNITED METHODIST

Potluck lunch is at noon Sunday in Oz Hall at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 North Duffy Road. Take a dish to share. Drinks and table service items are provided.

First English Lutheran Church community dinner work team will meet at 4 p.m. Monday.

The contemporary worship planning committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The men’s fellowship group meets at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eat’n Park, 214 New Castle Road, and Quilters will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Mother’s Day Blanket Fund forms, due May 8, are available in the narthex.

To place flower vases on the altar, contact the office or check in the narthex. Cost is $35.

The St. Vincent DePaul Food Cupboard items spaghetti and spaghetti sauce are still be accepted.

Fall registration for Super Sprout Pre-School are being accepted. For more information, call the church office at 724-287-4462 or one of the teachers.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church meets at 1104 Pittsburgh Pike Road.

Members will rake leaves from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Father Marinaro Park. All are welcome. Take gloves, rakes, bottled water, tarps, and wear work clothes.

Communion will be observed Sunday.

CONCORD PRESBYTERIAN

Concord Presbyterian Church, 673 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, has 9:45 a.m. Sunday school followed by an 11 a.m. traditional worship service. The time of the worship service changes to 9:30 a.m. beginning May 5.

Butterfly release preorder forms and payments are due Sunday.

Choir practice is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., has the Noisy Offering of loose change during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The People for Peace study group meets at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Assembly Room.

Sunday is Music and Choir Appreciation Sunday. The men and women of the choir, the choir director, and the organist will be honored during the 11 a.m. worship service and at a reception after the service.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext., hosts a game night May 3 for area Presbyterian churches.

The AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WW will meet at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. May 2 and at 8:30 a.m. May 4.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Ladies’ Outreach of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., is from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church.

First Baptist Christian School has an open house at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Slippery Rock Baptist Camp Youth Retreat begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Sunday’s service schedule begins with 9:45 a.m. Sunday school followed by an 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. There will also be a 6 p.m. Sunday worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

After the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., First English Kids and adults are planning a lunch and a hike.

At the Sunday social hour, there will be a cake and coffee celebration of the 60th wedding anniversary of Rose and Gary Cooper.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., offers Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank open to the public, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. No proof of income is required.

A fourth Sunday gathering, “Inquiring Minds,” meets from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the room across from Grace’s Closet. All are welcome to join.

Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets each Sunday morning for a 10 a.m. worship service at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Lyric Sessa and Michelle Huff provide the music at the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will have a fellowship hour following the Sunday worship service.

The vocal choir will rehearse at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Beaver Butler Presbyterian Women will meet for their spring gathering from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The afternoon speaker will be Kathleen Davis.

The handbell choir will rehearse at 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Session of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the board room.

There will be an 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship service followed by a 9:45 a.m. membership breakfast in the fellowship hall. Katie DeJournette from Hosanna Industries will speak at the breakfast. There will be no Sunday school. There will be an 11 a.m. worship service after the breakfast.

GriefShare meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the board room.

WIC uses the fellowship hall Tuesday to provide for the needs of women and children in Butler County.

NORTH WASHINGTON

North Washington Presbyterian Church, 714 Fairview Road, North Washington, has a 9:30 a.m. traditional worship service followed by 10:45 a.m. Sunday school.

The worship service time will change to 11 a.m. starting May 5.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, is urging members to wear blue to church Sunday for “Blue Sunday” to call attention to child abuse.

The Old Inn is the church’s newest missionary project. It is a maternity home in Butler that provides for women with no safe place to live. A speaker from Old Inn will be at the church May 5 to talk about its work and how the church can support it.

The Rev. Peter de Vries began his sabbatical and will return July 31. The Rev. Carolyn Jones will serve as pastor while he is away.

Speak with Lorene Winner to volunteer at the Allegheny County Special Olympics May 11.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will share Holy Communion at the 8:15 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The 150th anniversary of St. Luke’s Ministry begins Sunday with Pastor Dan Yeiser as guest speaker. A kick-off luncheon follows the noon worship service. For more information or to RSVP, contact stlukechurch@consolidated.net.

Mother’s Day hanging basket orders begin Sunday. Sales benefit the youth mission trip.

Geranium sale orders will also begin Sunday and run through May 12.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., has a 6 p.m. Saturday service and 8 and 10:15 a.m. Sunday services.

Children’s Church is at the 10:15 a.m. Sunday, while Sunday school for all ages takes place at 9 a.m.

The annual Bible Bowl competition is at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Church, 1320 Church St., Ambridge.

The evangelism committee meeting is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Children’s Hour regular classes meet from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Children’s Hour “End of the Year” program is at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, has a worship and music meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Women’s Bible Study will meet at 10 a.m. May 2.
