Butler-based country folk band Appalachian Doom Gospel will give a benefit show for area resident Dana Hare, who was recently diagnosed with stage four colon, liver, and lung cancer. The show on Saturday will also feature performances by Good Ole Ernie, Bonnie and The Mere Mortals, and Tom Pappas. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Butler Art Center, 344 S. Main St. Admission is $10, and all proceeds will benefit Hare and her family.

The Jazz Cabaret on May 8 will feature Dane Vannatter and his ensemble, musicians Daniel May on keyboard, Tony DePaolis on bass, and Thomas Wendt on drums. Songs will include “Pick Yourself Up,” “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” “Young at Heart,” “How High the Moon” and “The Way You Look Tonight.” The evening will begin at 7 p.m. at Conley’s, 740 Pittsburgh Road, Penn Township. Cost is $12.50. Free appetizers and a cash bar are planned. Call 412-366-1035.

Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra will give a free concert called “Season Finale” at 7:30 p.m. May 5 at Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave. Selections will include Sergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet.” Visit www.pyso.org.
