Prison expecting to relax, lift lockdown

Officials at Butler County Prison confirmed Monday that the jail has been on lockdown since last week, but is expected to be completely off lockdown by Tuesday. Warden Joe DeMore said the jail went on lockdown in the middle of last week when security issues started but declined to specify the nature of the problems. He cited safety concerns and said the issues were expected to be resolved Monday. He added that the jail will be taken off lockdown on Tuesday if everything is resolved. According to DeMore, a modified lockdown started Friday, meaning inmates were allowed a few hours of recreational activity per day. “Bottom line is, safety was the number one issue,” DeMore said.
