Former hospital exec, husband charged with embezzling $1.3M from Butler Health System

Scott and Stephanie Roskovski of Center Township were taken into federal custody Friday, according to documents filed in the U.S. Court in Pennsylvania's Western District.

PITTSBURGH — A high-profile Butler County couple was arrested and faces a collective 37-count indictment in federal court. Scott and Stephanie Roskovski of Center Township were taken into federal custody Friday, according to documents filed in the U.S. Court in Pennsylvania's Western District.

According to a news release from U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady, the Roskovskis' acted together between 2011 and 2017 to defraud the Butler Health System of more than $1.3 million.

Stephanie Roskovski was employed as the health system's chief operating officer until being fired in 2017.

Scott Roskovski, owner of Switchback MX in Clay Township and a former 20-year detective in the Butler County District Attorney's office, was fired by Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger in 2018.

Brady said counts one through 23 in the indictment allege that the couple conspired to defraud Butler Health System by submitting requests to Butler Memorial Hospital for alleged business-related expenses that were used or planned to be used for personal expenditures.

Among the purchases made using the stolen funds was Switchback MX property in 2015, lavish family vacations, household furnishings and concert and event tickets.

The couple appeared in federal court, where they sat with their legs shackled before federal Judge Robert Mitchell in Pittsburgh.
