Knoch graduate struck, killed by vehicle in Tenn.

Sarah Kasunic, 23, a 2013 graduate of Knoch High School and Butler County Community College, died Saturday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

A former Butler County woman and the good Samaritan who stopped to help her were both struck and killed Saturday on a busy interstate highway in eastern Tennessee.

Sarah Kasunic, 23, a 2013 graduate of Knoch High School and Butler County Community College, died Saturday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

The Knoxville News Sentinel newspaper reported Monday that shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, Ashley Moore, 38, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., apparently stopped to help Kasunic, after Kasunic was involved in a crash on I-40 east of Knoxville.

Both Moore and Kasunic got out of their vehicles and were struck by a vehicle traveling east on the interstate, police told the News Sentinel.

Moore died at the scene. Kasunic died after being taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The crash remained under investigation late Monday. Authorities have not indicated whether criminal charges may be filed.

A Gofundme page was established for Kasunic, who worked as a registered nurse.
