March 13 — Police charged two men with having drug contraband in connection with an earlier traffic stop on the 400 block of West Jefferson Street.

The driver, Robert M. Morris Jr., 24, of Portersville, was found to be wanted on a bench warrant, according to court documents. Police searched the car and turned up two suspected crack pipes and a marijuana pipe, according to court documents.

In the trunk, police said, officers found a book bag that contained a postal scale, empty stamp bags, and a small box of sandwich bags.

Morris told police the marijuana pipe was his. Storm M. Comly, 27, of Butler claimed ownership of the items in the book bag, police said.

Wednesday — Police reported they have charged two students — a 17-year-old Zelienople boy and a 17-year-old Evans City boy — for fighting at the Butler Vocational-Technical School. The fight occurred around 9:45 a.m. March 4 in the welding class locker room.

One of the boys suffered a minor injury that required medical attention. Both students are charged in Butler County juvenile court with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

March 11 — Julie S. Diamond, 48, of Butler Township was charged with being more than two-and-a-half times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a rollover wreck last month on Route 8 at the Bredinville split.

Police got the crash call just before 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22. Several witnesses reported seeing Diamond’s sport utility vehicle travel straight through the island at the split.

The vehicle hit a large PennDOT sign, breaking it into several pieces, according to a police report. It continued into a utility pole, snapping it in two.

Police said the SUV eventually traveled into a dip in the island, causing it to “topple end over end.” The vehicle ended on its wheels after hitting an embankment.

Diamond was injured and a medical helicopter flew her to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Police later got a search warrant to test her blood.

A toxicology report showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.208 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

She is charged with driving under the influence, driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.
