12:03 a.m. Thursday — Tamela L. Stevens, 44, of Summit Township was allegedly found with crack cocaine and marijuana following a traffic stop on Race Street. Police said they pulled her over for having a suspended vehicle registration.

An inventory check of the vehicle upon it getting towed, according to court documents, turned up a small baggie of suspected marijuana in the center console. Police said they found a suspected rock of crack during a consent search of her purse. She admitted the rock was crack, documents said.

Stevens is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and driving a vehicle without insurance.

2:07 a.m. March 13 — Zackary J. Delaney, 20, of Butler was allegedly found with suspected marijuana after he was arrested on a bench warrant while walking in the 500 block of West New Castle Street.

Police said Delaney admitted that he had a small bag of marijuana in his pocket. An officer allegedly seized the bag.

He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Monday — Police are investigating a phone scam in the township. A resident reported receiving a telephone call that showed up on the caller ID as PNC Bank.

But according to a police report, the number was not a local one, but it appeared to be from PNC.

The unknown suspect claimed the resident’s credit card had been compromised and requested personal information. The resident did not provide the information.

“Residents are reminded not to provide personal information over the phone,” the police report said.

1:32 a.m. Saturday — Tomasa Ann Steighner, 37, of Karns City is suspected of driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Route 268 at Kaylor Road in Fairview Township.

March 12 — Police cited Alyssa M. Lawson, 48, of Butler for eight traffic violations stemming from a hit-and-run crash earlier this month in Jackson Township.

Police said Lawson lost control of her car and struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. She was not injured, but her car had to be towed.

Police issued her tickets for hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, abandoning a vehicle on a highway, a police officer’s investigation violation, driving too fast for conditions, disobeying traffic control devices, disregarding traffic lanes and a vehicle hazard light violation.

3:15 a.m. Friday — A would-be thief tried to use a counterfeit $50 bill to buy cigarettes at the Sheetz convenience store on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township. She also had two other fake $50 bills that she tried to exchange for other denominations.

Police said they have a suspect, who they did not identify. The investigation is ongoing.
