[naviga:h3]County athletes earn PAC honors[/naviga:h3]

Three Butler County athletes have received honors this week from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

Karns City graduate Rebecca Pennington has been named PAC Women’s Outdoor Track Rookie of the Week. The Chatham University freshman topped the 16-runner field in the 5,000 meters at the Washington and Lee Carnival in Virginia. Her school-record time of 17 minutes, 55.79 seconds is best in the PAC so far this season.

Butler graduate Nicholas Grosch has been named PAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. The Washington & Jefferson sophomore midfielder claimed 12 of 23 draws against Muskingum and 18 of 30 against Wilmington, both victories. He also paced the team with 12 ground balls in the two matches.

Seneca Valley graduate Frank Cinicola was named PAC Baseball Hitter of the Week. The Westminster College junior hit .429 (9 for 21) in six starts last week, collecting three doubles, eight RBI and six runs scored.

[naviga:h3]SRU’s Vith named Athlete of Week[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University sophomore Leah Vith has been named PSAC West Softball Athlete of the Week.

Vith hit .522 (12 for 23) with two homers, three doubles, a triple and 11 RBI in helping The Rock win five of eight games last week.
