March 8 — Quinn D. Shanor, 21, of Harrisville was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle rollover wreck last month in Slippery Rock Township. Police said that around 1 a.m. Feb. 16, Shanor lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a bridge rail on Harmony Road.

Police said Shanor, who was 20 years old at the time, admitted he had earlier consumed four beers and was driving home, court documents said.

He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Slippery Rock University police station for a breath test that indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.131 percent. In Pennsylvania, drivers under 21 are considered intoxicated with a blood-alcohol level of 0.02 percent or higher. The legal limit for adult drivers is 0.08 percent.

Shanor is charged with driving under the influence, DUI by a minor, underage drinking, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and reckless driving.

March 16 — Charles Oravitz, 49, of Beaver suffered a minor injury when a vehicle he was driving traveled off I-79 and hit a tree in Worth Township at 7:46 a.m., police said. He was wearing a seat belt, police said. He was taken to Grove City Medical Center. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and EMS also responded to the accident.

March 16 — No injuries were reported after a car driven by Jacob Sarachine, 23, of Pittsburgh traveled off I-79 in Jackson Township and became disabled on an embankment at 9:16 a.m., police said. She was wearing a seat belt.

March 14 — Joseph Perry, 32, of Butler is suspected of drug possession. An off-duty trooper allegedly observed Perry, who was a passenger in the vehicle, using drugs while traveling on SR 28. A traffic stop was initiated. During the stop, a probable cause search allegedly yielded multiple stamp bags of suspected heroin and associated paraphernalia. Charges are pending.

March 16 — Kurt Kelly, 41, of Petrolia and Amanda Dennett, 33, of Petrolia were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 9:54 p.m. after officers responded to Sheetz on Route 8 following suspicious activity complaints, police said. Both people were wanted on bench warrants from the sheriff’s office, police said.

March 16 — No injuries were reported after vehicles driven by Carl Shook, 84, of Butler and Michelle McGowan, 48, of Butler were involved in an accident on New Castle Road at Moraine Pointe Plaza at 3:25 p.m., police said.

March 16 — Justin Hawk, 23, of Saxonburg was cited for careless driving after the vehicle he was driving hit a utility pole and speed limit sign and went over a 10-foot embankment before stopping in a field at 1:32 p.m., police said. He was not injured, police said. The Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Butler Ambulance also responded.

March 16 — No injuries were reported after Kolton Crissman, 20, of Kittanning lost control of a vehicle he was driving on Dutchtown Road due to weather conditions, spun around, hit a mailbox and slid backward before hitting another mailbox at 9:26 a.m., police said. Marisa Badrua, 21, of Butler was a passenger, police said. The vehicle was disabled and towed from the scene, police said.

March 15 — A vehicle driven by Christine Cubbison, 43, of Butler struck Judy Brown, 47, of Butler as she was walking in a crosswalk in front of the Dollar General in Butler Commons at 7:45 p.m., police said. Brown was injured but didn’t require immediate transport to a hospital, police said.

Feb. 26 — Dennis John, 43, of Butler was charged with driving with a license suspended for a driving under the influence related offense and traffic citations after he allegedly ran a red traffic light at the intersection of South Duffy and New Castle roads at 8 a.m., police said.

March 17 — Darrell Merriwether, 50, of Butler was cited for cruelty to animals after police conducted a welfare check on a German shepherd on Seneca Drive and allegedly found the dog did not have favorable living conditions at 7:44 p.m., police said.

March 16 — A vehicle driven by John Sirkoch of Butler north on Meridian Road approaching the McCalmont Road intersection struck a vehicle traveling west on McCalmont Road that didn’t stop at the stop sign at 8:32 a.m., police said. The vehicle was last seen heading south on Meridian road with a white female driver, police said. The car, which was struck on the left rear quarter panel, was dark colored and possibly a Toyota Camry, police said.

March 18 — A cardboard box that apparently fell from a vehicle on Eberhart Road was found at the rear entrance to Moraine Pointe Plaza and is now at the police station. Police said the owner can claim it with the receipt or detailed description of the contents by calling the station at 724-285-9600.
