State Police, ButlerMarch 6 — Dana E. Martin III, 23, of Chicora was charged with DUI in connection with a February traffic stop in Slippery Rock. Police said they stopped him around 11 p.m. Feb. 22 after he did not turn off his high beams while passing a trooper going the opposite way on Harmony Road.Martin admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the day, according to court documents. Police alleged that they noticed open beer cans in his pickup truck.He indicated impairment during field sobriety tests and was taken to the Slippery Rock University police station for a breath test, which allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.095 percent.He is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, careless driving, failing to keep right, driving with an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and failing to use low beams.6:20 a.m. March 2 — Tyler W. Ruff, 20, of Pittsburgh was arrested for DUI after he crashed his car into a ditch on Route 422 just west of Route 528 in Franklin Township.Police alleged that he acknowledged having had two beers before driving. Field sobriety testing allegedly indicated impairment and a subsequent breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.125 percent.Ruff is charged with driving under the influence, DUI by a minor, underage drinking, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.March 1 — Rosanai G. Alston, 22, of Pittsburgh was charged with drugged driving stemming from a two-vehicle crash last month in Worth Township.Police said the collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. Feb. 18 when Alston lost control of her car due to road conditions and slid off the Interstate 79 north off ramp. The other driver, a 19-year-old Washington County woman, suffered an apparent minor injury.Alston allegedly admitted that she had smoked marijuana the previous day, according to court documents, and she failed field sobriety tests. Police took her to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test that allegedly showed she had marijuana in her system.She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving too fast for conditions.11:47 p.m. Feb. 23 — John Wesley Walters, for whom no age was given, of Grove City was arrested for DUI in Brady Township. Police said they pulled him over for swerving in his lane and for twice crossing the fog line on Route 8.During field sobriety testing, according to court documents, he stopped, telling police, “I’ve had too much.” He admitted to drinking beer at a Butler bar. A breath test allegedly indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.165 percent.In addition to DUI, he is charged with two counts of disregarding traffic lanes, failing to carry his vehicle registration and careless driving.
