Moniteau High School on exterior lockdown

An exterior lockdown was in place Friday morning at Moniteau High School as a precaution while state police were investigating a suspicious vehicle near the school.

Superintendent Sean Arney said classes were continuing on the normal schedule, but no one was permitted to leave the building and the entrance to the school is being controlled.

“As of right now, we have state police investigating a suspicious vehicle off property,” Arney said.

The lockdown, which did not include the elementary school, will remain in effect until police clear the scene, he said.

UPDATE: The lockdown was lifted at 11:45 a.m., according to a Moniteau official.
