March 1 — Police charged Shawn E. Waltenbaugh, 37, of Butler Township with being more than three-and-a-half times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a crash last month at New Castle and South Duffy roads.

Waltenbaugh admitted to drinking before driving, according to court documents. He later failed a field sobriety test and he was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Police said toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.288 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

He is charged with driving under the influence and disobeying traffic control devices.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

8:30 a.m. Thursday — Vichai Cain, 48, of Slippery Rock lost control of his vehicle and struck a guardrail along George Junior Road. He was not hurt, but his vehicle had to be towed. The guardrail sustained unspecified damage.

Police cited Cain for driving too fast for conditions.

Feb. 27 — Zachary L. Cook, 26, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving stemming from a January traffic incident in Center Township. Police said they spotted him driving erratically and damaging the gravel parking lot on Route 8 near Mercer Road.

Cook admitted to drinking earlier, according to court documents, and he later failed field sobriety tests. He was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.126 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He is charged with driving under the influence, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, unauthorized use of vehicle registration, damaging property by vehicle, careless driving and reckless driving.
