Butler Police4:57 p.m. Thursday — Mitchell J. Ferguson, 30, was arrested after he allegedly punched and bloodied a woman during a domestic dispute at his home on Hansen Avenue.The victim told police that Mitchell threw her to the ground and got on top of her, according to court documents, then punched her at least twice in the face. She got away and ran to a nearby Speedway convenience store. But the defendant followed her there.A good Samaritan stepped in and separated Ferguson and the woman until police arrived. Butler Township police assisted. City officers said the victim’s mouth was covered in blood and she had blood coming from her nose. She also had blood below her left eye.Police said they searched Mitchell and found a crack pipe in one of his pockets.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Ferguson on charges of simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was remanded to Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Butler Twp Police12:48 a.m. Friday — Hilary McCrea, 29, of Butler was badly injured when the vehicle in which she was riding crashed into a mailbox, utility pole and guardrail on the 700 block of Bullcreek Road.Police said she was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of a severe back injury. She was not wearing a seat belt.The crash occurred, according to a police report, when Vincent Scott, 52, of Butler lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered road. He also was not wearing a seat belt, but he was not injured.Police cited Scott for driving too fast for conditions, driving with a suspended license and two seat belt violations.

Slippery Rock Police2:08 a.m. Feb. 16 — An Allegheny County woman was arrested for driving under the influence on South Main Street near Maltby Avenue. Police said they stopped Hayley S. Perle, 20, of Cheswick because her registration was expired.Perle admitted that she earlier had two shots of tequila, according to court documents. She failed field sobriety testing and was taken for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.153 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to DUI, she is charged with DUI by a minor, underage drinking and driving an unregistered vehicle.State Police, ButlerFeb. 20 — Police charged Marshall A. Cranmer, 48, of Clay Township with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic stop earlier this month in Center Township. Police said he was pulled over around 1 a.m. Feb. 3 after his vehicle crossed the center line “multiple times.”He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the barracks for a breath test that indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.187 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 is considered intoxicated.Cranmer is charged with driving under the influence, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and a seat belt violation.Feb. 20 — Jeremiah J. Mackey, 22, of Connoquenessing Township was charged with failing to complete a furnace installation job last year at a home on Victoria Lane in Center Township.Police said the victim met with Mackey, owner of J&L Heating and Cooling, on Jan. 6, 2018, to discuss installing an 80,000 BTU furnace. The two men agreed on a price of $1,650.The homeowner subsequently paid the defendant $1,400 toward the cost, according to court documents. On Feb. 11, 2018, Mackey installed a furnace, but it was a 60,000 BTU unit.The two men, in turn, entered into another agreement for Mackey to remove the 60,0000 BTU furnace and replace it with an 80,000 BTU unit. Additionally, documents said, the victim paid another $425 for the defendant to install the 60,000 BTU furnace in the homeowner’s next door rental property.The agreed upon work was not completed. Police said they contacted Mackey in August and October “to have (him) complete the work or pay the victim the money back.” To this date, Mackey has allegedly still not paid the money to the victim.Police allege the victim was defrauded out of $529 in items and services.Mackey is charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.Feb. 20 — Anna M. Timko, 28, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving in connection with a traffic stop last month in Center Township. Police said they stopped her around 1:10 a.m. Jan. 12 after she crossed the center line and fog line “numerous times” on Route 8 in the area of Sunset Drive.She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the barracks in Butler Township for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.123 percent. A level of 0.08 is considered intoxicated under state law.Timko is charged with DUI, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.Feb. 20 — Police charged Shane M. Abbott, 19, of Butler Township with having a drug-smoking pipe and marijuana grinder stemming from a September traffic in Butler Township. He was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 5 on Route 422 west near Route 8.Abbott is charged possession of drug paraphernalia.Feb. 19 — Tammy S. Roberts, 55, of Saxonburg was charged with being double the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a one-vehicle wreck earlier this month in Clinton Township. Police said her car struck concrete blocks for the train overpass on Anderson Road around 9:10 p.m. Feb. 6.The car was across both lanes when police found it and Roberts was in the driver’s seat.“She stated she had been drinking,” according to court documents, “and knew she should not have been.” She allegedly told troopers she had four or five drinks.Police said she failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the barracks for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.161 percent.Roberts is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and reckless driving.Feb. 19 — Timothy L. Gilliland II, 28, of Butler was charged with DUI in connection with a December traffic stop in Worth Township. He was pulled over around 11:20 p.m. Jan. 31 after passing an oncoming police car with his high beams on while traveling Route 108.Police said Gilliland’s car also had a broken driver’s side taillight.He told troopers that he had “a beer or two” earlier, according to court documents, and he subsequently failed field sobriety tests. He was taken for a breath test that allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.131 percent.He is charged with DUI, not using low beams, driving a vehicle without unsafe equipment and a rear light violation.2:19 a.m. Feb. 16 — Chad M. Campbell, 34, of Chicora was arrested for drunken driving after he was pulled over for having a faulty brake light on North Main Street near Byrnes Street in Chicora.Police said Campbell failed sobriety tests and he was taken to the barracks for a breath test that indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.163 percent.In addition to DUI, he is charged with careless driving and a rear-light violation.2:10 a.m. Feb. 15 — Scott L. Wright, 24, of Butler Township was arrested for DUI at New Castle and North Eberhart roads in Butler Township. Police said he was stopped for not signaling while making a right turn.During field sobriety testing he showed signs of impairment and was subsequently taken for a breath test that found his blood-alcohol level was 0.115 percent.He is charged with DUI and failing to use turn signals.
