Charles “Chuck” George Cranmer

Charles “Chuck” George Cranmer, 82, of Butler passed away Friday at his home under the care of his loving wife and VNA Western Pennsylvania Hospice.

He was born Feb. 17, 1937, in Clay Township, Butler County. He was the son of the late Paul Dewitt Cranmer and Jennie Freda Miller Cranmer.

Charles was employed as a mail carrier at the Butler Post Office for 35 years. Upon his retirement from the post office, he had worked at Penn United Technologies and American Legion Post 117.

After graduating from West Sunbury High School, he served and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot and an active participant of Celebrating Recovery.

He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Butler Elks Lodge 170, Masonic Lodge 272 and American Legion Post 117.

He enjoyed time with family and friends, working around the home, hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, spending time at the mountains at his camp and helping others.

Chuck leaves behind a loving wife, Darlene Lanterman Cranmer, whom he married Oct. 28, 1983; his children, Cammy (Tom) Riemer of Winchester, Va., Cynthia (Mike) Young of Harrisburg and Charles (Donna) Cranmer of Butler; a stepson, Timothy (Tiffany) Grelling of Lumberton, N.J.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Angela and Rachel; three stepgrandchildren Tyson, Allison and Jaxon; and one great-grandson, Carlisle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Helen Jeannette Link, Dorothy Gwendolyn Beacham and Alice Maxine Hoyt; and his brother, Dwight Paul Cranmer.

CRANMER — Friends and family of Charles “Chuck” George Cranmer, who died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W.
