Charles H. Davies III

Charles H. Davies III, 28, of Prospect passed away peacefully with his family by his side early Friday morning after fighting a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

Born Feb. 18, 1991, in Beaver, Pa., he is the son of Pamela Grimes Simpson and Charles H. Davies Jr.

He was a 2009 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, where he played football and excelled in swimming. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing football at the Prospect Boys and Girls Club and swimming for the Slippery Rock Eels.

Charles was faithful in attending the Community Alliance Church in Butler.

Before his illness, he was a waiter at Rey Azteca in Butler.

In December 2018, he was presented the Volunteer of the Year award at Jennings Environmental Education Center. He will be remembered for his ambition to volunteer in nature and building bridges during his battle with cancer.

He enjoyed kayaking with his family and friends, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, where he loved watching and attending Pens, Steelers and Pirates games.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Charles H. (Joyce) Davies Jr. of Prospect; his mother and stepfather, Pamela (Jerome) Simpson of Baldwin; his grandmother, Jane Hogue Russell of Prospect; his dog Theibeau; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

DAVIES — Visitation for Charles H. Davies III, who died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.Additional viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Legacy Room at the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler.Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Legacy Room with his Pastor Denny Krajacic officiating.Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.Memorial donations may be made to the UPMC Neuro Oncology Program, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, 5th Floor, Attn: Jana Parks, 5150 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.Please visit www.raisleyfuneralhome.com to leave an online tribute.
