[naviga:h3]Free recital set Saturday[/naviga:h3]

A recital of music for trumpet, voice, piano and organ is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

Admission to the recital is free, but donations will be accepted.

Performing will be Tim Winfield and Jim Cunningham, both on trumpet; Nancy Zipay DeSalvo on piano; vocalists Brianne Kochunas Samson and Bill Ambert; and organist Paula Kubik.

The first half of the recital will feature works by J.S. Bach. The second half will offer works by Honegger, Pennequin and Debussy.

[naviga:h3]‘Flight School’ comes to SV[/naviga:h3]

Seneca Valley Senior High School will host Vital Theatre Company’s production of “Flight School the Musical” at 2 p.m. Feb. 24.

The show is part of the Children’s Theater Series from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

The play, based on the book by Lita Judge, is about the first day of Flight School where birds learn how to fly.

This 50-minute show features music, acting, singing, movement, and storytelling and is recommended for children age 3 and older.

[naviga:h3]Carved in Ice festival returns[/naviga:h3]

The fourth annual Butler Carved in Ice festival and chili cook-off will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 23 in Diamond Park across from the Butler Courthouse.

Activities are hosted by the Butler AM Rotary, and proceeds from the event support the Rotary’s projects including “Save the Playground” at Butler Memorial Park, the “Kids’ Weekend Backpack program” and other charities.
