The Butler High School rifle team wound up placing third at the WPIAL Championships held Tuesday at the Dormont/Mt. Lebanon Sportsman's Club in Canonsburg.

Hempfield won the title with Trinity placing second.

Butler tallied a score of 798-65x. Shooting 100's for the Golden Tornado were Andrew Arbanas, Riley Rodgers, Cody Stroup, Aidan Ketterer, Kayla Kopelic and Dylann Yarrington.

The Tornado will have five shooters — Arbanas, Alec Stamm, Rodgers, Stroup and Ketterer — competing at the WPIAL Individual Championships Thursday.

Swimming

Zach Wilson broke a Knoch school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.75 seconds. Northgate came away with two victories as it defeated the Knoch boys 92-88 and the girls 105-78.
