ERIE — Butler graduate and Gannon University senior designated hitter Ian Steighner has been named first team Preseason All-Atlantic Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Steighner hit .319 last season, scoring 24 runs and compiling a .447 on-base percentage.

PITTSBURGH — Karns City graduate Rebecca Pennington, a freshman on the Chatham University indoor track and field team, has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Track Rookie of the Week.

Pennington ran to a pair of first-place finishes at the BSN Oberlin Invitational. She set the school record in the indoor mile at five minutes, 25.20 seconds.
