Stitt, Johns key KC girls victory over Leechburg

Alyssa Stitt and Emma Johns both scored 12 points as the Karns City girls basketball team defeated visiting Leechburg, 47-25, Monday night.

The Gremlins outscored the Blue Devils, 19-4, in the final quarter.

Johns tallied 10 points in the final period and Stitt drained four treys in the game.

Freeport 41, Deer Lakes 39 — The visiting Yellowjackets won this defensive struggle, holding the Lancers to just two points in the second quarter and seven in the fourth.

Harley Holloway and Samantha Clark both scored 13 points to lead playoff-bound Freeport (18-4).

Slippery Rock 72, Meadville 50 — Four Rockets reached double digits in points as Slippery Rock rolled over the Bulldogs.

Maryann Ackerman and Emma McDermott both netted 19 points, Hallie Raabe added 13 and Anna Kadlubek 11.

Tess Myers scored 13 points and added 11 rebounds for North Catholic (19-3). Dani Short added 15 points and Kylee Lewandowski nine points.

The Trojanettes will enter the WPIAL playoffs as undefeated champions of Section 1-4A.

Moniteau 46, North Clarion 39 — Aslyn Pry continued her solid play for the Warriors, dropping 16 points to go with eight rebounds and four blocks.

Kristin Auvil contributed 13 points and Andie Arblaster 10 points and eight rebounds in the win.
