Butler girls relays hit qualifying times

All three Butler girls relay units hit PA Indoor State qualifying times Saturday during the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet at Edinboro University.

The Golden Tornado's 4x800 relay team of Gabby Boden, Chesna Tomko, Chelsey Kabel and Liz Simms won the event. Butler's 4x200 and 4x400 units placed second.

On the boys side, Sami Taoufik won the high jump.

Slippery Rock's Sean Northcott reset his own school record in the indoor shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 3.4 inches Saturday in a meet at Youngstown State.

Northcott took seventh place in the meet. Gordon Baker placed seventh in the high jump at 5-6.

WrestlingMars resident and North Catholic 138-pounder Matthew Ferraro placed third at the Buckeye Local Panther Classic in Ohio over the weekend.Ferraro scored two pins and a major decision to reach the semifinals before dropping a 4-2 decision. He took third place by winning a 3-1 decision.

Private SchoolsElijah White scored 26 points and Eli Stroh added 14 as the Portersville Christian boys basketball team defeated Commodore Perry, 64-43.
