Butler bowlers improve to 7-1

Butler's boys and girls bowling teams both improved to 7-1 Wednesday by posting 7-0 victories over Seneca Valley at Mars Lanes.

Jordan Reges led the Golden Tornado boys with a 591 series, including a 206 game. Chris Huff added a 220 game and 561 series.

Ryan Thoma led Seneca Valley with a 579 series and 224 game. Jason Hartenstein had a 551 series.

Reegan Malis had a pair of 189 games and a 523 series for the Butler girls. Maddie Ferringer led the Raiders with a 207 game and 499 series. Both SV teams slipped to 5-3.

In other action:

Freeport's boys blanked Burrell, 7-0, as Mark Livingston had a 651 series. Livingston rolled games of 230 and 225. David Kinniburgh had a 196-545, Issiac Spencer a 193-528 and Blake Olson a 180-521. Ashton Guay rolled a 203 game.

Jackie Clark rolled a 179-514 to lead Freeport's girls, who dropped a 7-0 decision. Carlee Hammel rolled a 622 — including games of 244 and 236 — while Lydia Flanagan rolled a 600, including games of 212 and 208 for Burrell.

Boys Basketball

Aiden Skradski and Nolan Plocki both notched 10 points for Freeport in a 58-47 loss to Armstrong.

The River Hawks collected 14 points off free throws while giving up just two points in the third quarter.

Sidney Shemanski led three Freeport players in double figures with 20 points as the Yellowjackets downed Armstrong, 62-44.

Freeport had a 14-point lead (38-24) by halftime.
