The highest snowfall figure from Butler County reported to Pittsburgh's National Weather Service office on Sunday morning was 4.5 inches.

Those 4.5 inches were recorded in Slippery Rock, according to NWS meteorologist John Darnley.

A site in Butler reported 3 inches of snow Sunday morning, he said. Another in Winfield Township reported 2.6 inches, and a fourth in Cranberry Township reported 3 inches.

Butler County fell along a dividing line, Darnley said. The northern side received more outright snowfall, while the southern side received rain followed by snow.

The mixture of rain and snow, he said, created more dangerous driving conditions than if only snow had arrived.
