Craig shines for SV

Seneca Valley sophomore Kendall Craig made the WPIAL cut in the 200-yard freestyle in the Raiders' meet against Pine-Richland recently.

Craig became the only SV swimmer to have WPIAL qualifying times in all eight individual events.

Seneca Valley's girls improved to 7-0 in WPIAL Class AAA with wins of 95-75 over Bethel Park and 112-69 over Pine-Richland.

The Raider boys moved to 6-1 with wins of 100-47 over Bethel Park and 109-69 over Pine-Richland.

Overall, SV has 28 swimmers making 75 WPIAL qualifying times so far this season.

Seneca Valley hosts Mars Thursday night for Senior Night.

Bowling

Butler's boys and girls swept Mars by 7-0 scores. Chris Huff led the Golden Tornado boys with a 192 game and 541 series. Cole Thrash rolled a 521 series.

Alex Ola led Mars (1-6) with a 320 series.

Jordyn Graham paced the Butler girls with a 212 game and 540 series. Reegan Malis added a 505 series. Paige Stafford and Alaina Nagel both rolled a 346 series for the Planets (1-6).

Both Butler teams are 6-1 and visit Seneca Valley next Wednesday. Mars will visit North Allegheny.

In other action:

Freeport dropped a pair of matches to Armstrong, the Yellowjacket boys falling 5-2 and the girls by a 4-3 count.

Mark Livingston Freeport's boys with a 658 series, rolling games of 235, 220 and 203. David Kinniburgh had a 204-530 and Issaic Spencer a 215-526 for the Yellowjackets. Scott McIntire had a 227-590 for Armstrong.

Jackie Clark led Freeport's girls with a 211 game and 553 series. Olivia Edmonds had a 218-620 for Armstrong.

Wrestling

Summit Academy fell to 3-6 on the season after losing to Highlands Wednesday night. Salvador Sanchez won by major decision, 17-10, for Summit, while Andrew Meadows won by technical fall in 48 seconds.

The Knights' next match will be Jan. 23 as they host Taylor Allderdice who Summit fell to earlier this season, 48-24.

Private Schools

Ben Drake scored 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, but the First Baptist Christian School boys basketball team dropped a 58-55 decision to Beaver County Christian.

Joel Mackay added 14 points, Nick Flatt 18 rebounds for FBC.
