Butler man arrested on child porn charges

A Butler man admitted he downloaded child pornography videos onto his home computer last year, authorities said.

State police Wednesday arrested John P. Doerr III, 31, in a case that began with an undercover investigation into the internet sharing of child pornography, according to court documents.

Doerr was arraigned on six counts of dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions and films depicting children engaged in sex acts, 35 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies.

He subsequently waived his preliminary hearing and was released on his own recognizance.

Doerr's attorney, Michael Pawk, accompanied him at Wednesday's court proceedings. Pawk did not immediately return a telephone call Thursday seeking comment.

The charges culminated the investigation by the police computer crime unit that included the execution of a search warrant Oct. 16 at the defendant's home.
