6:15 a.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kyle S. Casey, 30, of Valencia struck a deer on Route 38 just east of Scott Lane in Allegheny Township.

Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating a break-in at a trailer on Weathervane Drive in Slippery Rock Township. Tools were reported stolen from the trailer.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 724-284-8100.

3:30 p.m. Monday — Alcohol was a suspected cause of a rear-end crash on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. No one was hurt. Both vehicles were damaged.

The wreck occurred when a 43-year-old New Wilmington, Lawrence County man driving a Freightliner truck struck an SUV that was stopped at a traffic light. The SUV, driven by Melvin E. Black Jr., 45, of New Castle, sustained heavy rear-end damage.

Charges of driving under the influence are pending against the truck driver, whom police did not identify.

3:28 p.m. Monday — An SUV driven by Richard L. Pribis, 67, of Butler struck the back of another SUV on Route 68 just east of Hindman Lane in Connoquenessing Township. Kyra L. Skal, 21, of Butler was the other driver.

No one was injured, but Skal’s vehicle had to be towed.

Jan. 10 — Shawna S. Crissman, 34, of Butler Township was charged with drunken driving in connection with a November traffic stop on Main Street in Chicora. She was pulled over around 2:50 a.m. Nov. 21, police said, for a faulty headlight.

Crissman acknowledged that she had been drinking and field sobriety testing indicated that she was impaired. A breath test later showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.116 percent. A level of 0.08 percent or higher is considered intoxicated under state law.

She is charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and a lighting violation.

Jan. 10 — An Allegheny County woman was charged with drugged driving stemming from a November traffic stop in Butler. Police said they stopped her around 10 p.m. Nov. 24 for driving with a faulty headlight on West Wayne Street.

The defendant, Shannon L. Holmes, 25, of Brackenridge, admitted that she had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening, according to court documents. Police said they seized what appeared to be marijuana and a marijuana grinder.

Holmes was given field sobriety tests and allegedly showed impairment. Police took her to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Toxicology results showed she had marijuana in her system, documents said. Additionally, her blood-alcohol level was 0.046 percent, which is under the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit for alcohol.

She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Jan. 9 — Jeremiah J. Mackey, 22, of Chicora was charged with failing to install a heater, for which he had been previously paid last year, at a home on Aspen Road in Fairview Township.

The victim told police Dec. 10 that he had given Mackey $800 as a down payment for the project. The defendant, according to court documents, had not shown up to install the heater.

Police on Jan. 2 spoke to Mackey, who admitted that he had received the money, documents said, but had not carried through with the service that he had agreed to provide.

Mackey is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft by deception.

Jan. 9 — Gregory W. Bollinger, 48, of Hilliards was charged with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol in connection with an incident last month in Concord Township.

Police said they found Bollinger around 9 p.m. Dec. 24 after being called for an unresponsive man in the parking lot at the Hooker Country Store on Route 38. He was in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck that was running, according to court documents.

He admitted to having “a couple” of beers and “several” shots about two hours earlier, police said. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.168 percent.

Bollinger is charged with driving under the influence and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Jan. 9 — Robert E. Coyle Jr., 23, of Center Township was charged with DUI in connection with a speeding stop last month in Summit Township. Police said they clocked his pickup truck shortly before midnight Dec. 21 traveling 55 mph in a 35 mph zone at Route 68 and Eastwood Drive.

Coyle admitted to having two beers with friends earlier that night, according to court documents. Field sobriety tests indicated that he was impaired, police said, and he was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.147 percent.

In addition to DUI, he is charged with speeding, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to use turn signals and careless driving.
