Bayer Butler County workers safe

2 other sites also remain

While Bayer will close its facility in Robinson Township, Allegheny County, affecting 569 employees and 96 contractors, company officials said the 1,300 employees in Butler County and two other locations can rest easy.

Chris Loder, Bayer spokesman, said Tuesday that the radiation oncology processing facilities in Clinton Township, Indianola and O'Hara Township will remain unaffected by the Robinson closing.

The Clinton Township facility is in the Victory Road Industrial Park.

“Those continue to remain important sites for Bayer,” Loder said.

Loder said the Robinson site holds mostly administrative positions in departments, including information technology, accounting and finance, legal and patents.

The Saxonburg, Indianola and O'Hara Township facilities process, pack and ship sterile components for the radiation oncology industry, Loder said.

Bayer announced in November that 12,000 workers would be laid off globally by 2021.
