[naviga:h3]Area hoopsters net Player of Week[/naviga:h3]

Mars graduate John Castello, Seneca Valley graduate Paige Montrose and Slippery Rock University junior Micah Till have all been named Player of the Week in their respective basketball conferences.

Castello, a junior forward at Shippensburg University, was named PSAC East Player of the Week. He scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a win over Millersville, scored 19 points and grabbed 11 boards in a win over Kutztown.

Montrose, a junior guard at Saint Vincent College, was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Player of the Week. She averaged 12 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in two Bearcat victories.

Till was named PSAC West Player of the Week, producing 25 points and 11 rebounds in The Rock’s 74-69 upset win over previously unbeaten Indiana (Pa.).

[naviga:h3]SRU’s Razzano coaching for USA[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University defensive coordinator Dom Razzano will represent USA Football Friday when he serves as defensive coordinator of the USA National team in the International Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Razzano is the lone collegiate coach on the coaching staff of the U-19 national team.

The International Bowl features the top high school players from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama and Japan.
