Icy roads greet motorists Wednesday morning

Freezing rain has made for icy road conditions this morning and reports of traffic accidents.

All school districts in Butler County are on a two-hour delay while the start of classes at Butler County Community College has been pushed back until 10 a.m.

A winter weather advisory, meanwhile, remains in effect for the county and all of Western Pennsylvania until noon today because of the freezing temperatures coupled with the light drizzle.

Among the minor crashes this morning were two in Butler Township. At 6 a.m., emergency crews reported “very icy” conditions on Delwood Road and the Bon Aire section where no one was injured in a one-vehicle accident.

About 20 minutes later, a motorist leaving a driveway wrecked down a hillside on Whitestown Road. No one apparently was hurt.

The forecast today calls a high near 32 and tonight the temperature is to dip to 17. There is no mention of the white stuff.

But snow is likely Thursday, mainly after 4 p.m., with accumulation of less than a half inch.
