Willie Nelson

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country icon Willie Nelson has sung with just about everyone, from Snoop Dogg to Frank Sinatra, but one surprising omission was fellow Texas troubadour George Strait.

The two country singers sang their first ever duet together on Saturday night in Nashville during a tribute show honoring the 85-year-old outlaw country singer with a performance of a song written just for the occasion.

The two sang a song called, “Sing One With Willie,” in which Strait says to Nelson, “You just made my career” and Nelson replies, “Or ruined it.”

More than two dozen artists sang in honor of Nelson during the show, including Kris Kristofferson, Jimmy Buffett, Alison Krauss and more. The show will be aired on A&E at a later date.

NEW YORK — “Saturday Night Live” funnyman Michael Che hosted a fundraiser for a cause close to home: New York City public housing.

Che's “Weekend Update” co-host Colin Jost and fellow comedians Amy Schumer and Michelle Wolf joined Che Friday at the sold-out benefit for the nonprofit Fund for Public Housing.

The Daily News reported that Schumer joked about her pregnancy woes. She had a message for women whose pregnancies are easy: “I hope that your car flips over.”

Che grew up in a public housing complex on the lower east side.

He announced his plan for the benefit last month. He said on Instagram that many public housing residents have gone without heat this winter and “this money could really help.”

Che said the event raised nearly $110,000 before the doors opened.

PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine newspaper that horrified author Stephen King by dropping its local book review coverage is using his complaint to boost digital subscriptions.

King, who lives in Bangor, complained Friday about the Portland Press Herald's decision to stop publishing freelance-written reviews of books about Maine or written by Maine authors and urged his 5.1 million Twitter followers to retweet his message.

The paper responded by promising to reinstate the local book reviews if 100 of King's followers purchased digital subscriptions to the newspaper.

As of Saturday morning, it had added 71 new subscribers.
