Knoch drains record 14 treys in win

Knoch set a school record by draining 14 treys, seven of them coming from senior guard Julian Sanks, in an 85-41 boys basketball victory at Derry Friday night.

Scott Fraser added 21 points for the Knights (10-3, 4-0). Ryan Lang tallied 13 while Brady McKee had 12.

Knoch led 33-9 after one quarter.

A-C Valley 79, Venango Catholic 60 — A-C Valley sophomore Levi Orton continued his superb season by dropping 37 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.

Orton tallied 23 of his points in the first half, after which the Falcons (4-7) led 38-26.

Mars 89, Kiski Area 62 — A 28-point second quarter spurred this section victory on Thursday for the Planets (11-1, 6-0).

Four Mars players reached double figures in points, led by 23 from Khori Fusco. Brandon Caruso and Andrew Recchia scored 18 and 17, respectively, and Michael Carmody added 12.

Girls Basketball

Marli Hawk, Bryn Davis and Dominika Logue each scored 10 points in Union's 49-29 win over Clarion-Limestone.

North Clarion 56, Karns City 25 — Kate Slaugenhoup and Emma Johns both scored nine points for the Gremlins.

Private Schools

Elijah White scored a game-high 30 points to lead Portersville Christian to a 52-30 boys basketball victory over Beaver County Christian.

The Warriors improved to 11-4 on the season.
