I find it hard to comprehend the mind-set of certain individuals who feel that taking items from a business and not paying for them is an unalienable right bestowed upon them by some higher power, i.e., shoplifting on a daily basis at the local Walmart store that ties up the police department issuing citations for these incidents.

I suggest that management change the announcement when you finish your self checkout to say instead of “Thank you for shopping at Walmart” to “Thank you for not shoplifting at Walmart today!” That would be more appropriate and realistic.
