Butler budget, including higher parking rates, heads for a Thursday vote

Butler City Council will vote Thursday on a $9.158-million budget that does not raise taxes next year but includes a $5 increase in the cost of monthly parking permits.

Council, at Tuesday's forum meeting, agreed to place the budget package and parking fee schedule on the agenda for Thursday's regular meeting.

The proposed 2019 budget, which is slightly more than this year's $9.153 million budget, will appear on Thursday's agenda.

A resolution revising the fee schedule to add $5 to the cost of monthly permits for parking in garages and lots also will be before the council.

During previous discussions, city officials said the higher fee would raise an additional $40,000 in revenue for the parking fund and the money would be used to replace the sidewalk around the tier garage and pay for improvements at other parking facilities.
