Morning shooting suspect arrested

STORY DETAILS UPDATED AT 1:15 p.m.Gage Carrozzi, who is a suspect in the incidents on Hansen and Bessemer Avenues Monday, has been caught.State police caught Carrozzi under the Picklegate Bridge about 10:10 a.m., according to police.Reportedly Carrozzi showed up looking for his girlfriend at a Hansen Avenue apartment Monday morning. Carrozzi, according to police, believed she was inside but she wouldn't come out.Police said he fired numerous shots through the door into the apartment, one of which grazed the left side of her stomach. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for what police considered a minor injury. She was released from the hospital Monday, police said.A police officer said, "she told us who it was and where he was likely headed."Police then went to the couple's apartment on the 400 block Bessemer Ave. looking for Carrozzi.They called for him on loudspeaker asking for the person inside to come out with their hands up. When they got no response heavily armed police with rifles forced their way inside but Carrozzi was not there.Two children were found inside, believed to be ages 1 and 4. They were given to their grandmother. Sometime after the police showed up at Bessemer Ave., state police spotted Carrozzi underneath the Picklegate Bridge.The girlfriend, along with a man who was in the apartment at the time of the shooting, have both been interviewed, according to police. Police are hoping to interview the suspect.
