Penelope “Penny” Ann Davis

Penelope “Penny” Ann Davis, 75, of Prospect died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Penny was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Butler, and was the daughter of Arthur E. and Lois Chickar Ackelson.

Penny was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.

She had taught in both the Slippery Rock and Butler school districts.

Penny was a past librarian of the Prospect Community Library. For many years, she served as the minority inspector on the Prospect Board of Elections.

Penny was a lifetime member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect, where she was very active. She was a former member of the Prospect Community Women's Club, active in Girl Scouts, the Red Hat Society, TOPS and the Home Economics Association.

Penny loved to ballroom dance and was a member of the Woodland Quilters at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Prospect.

Survivors include her husband, William Clifford Davis, whom she married June 10, 1967; two daughters, Myra (Fu-Hsuen) Tsung of Georgia and Hannah (Daniel) Wheeler of North Carolina; two brothers, J. Michael (Shirley) Ackelson of Butler, and Robert A. (Marilyn) Ackelson of California; one sister, Naomi (Preston) Edsell of Troy, Pa.; and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Myra.

DAVIS — Visitation for Penelope “Penny” Ann Davis, who died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Jay Bryan Funeral Home, 443 Main St., Prospect.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect with the Rev. Gary Brown officiating.Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Prospect.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prospect Community Library or the National MS Society in Penny's name.
