[naviga:h3]Former Eagle intern wins national award[/naviga:h3]

MANSFIELD, Ohio — Former Butler resident Tracy Geibel was honored Tuesday with one of Hearken’s national Champion of Curiosity awards for answering a reader-submitted question about a former Westinghouse property.

The Slippery Rock University graduate was a Butler Eagle staff intern before working as a reporter for the Richland Source, Ohio news service.

Her two-part series on the former appliance factory, published Sept. 19 and Sept. 20, was chosen among more than 1,700 public-powered stories published between November 2017 and October 2018 as an example of “great audience engagement journalism” and the “hardest story to report.”

Richland Source and the Philadelphia Inquirer were the two winners chosen in this category. The “hardest stories to report” category was judged by Hearken’s engagement consulting team. The Philadelphia Inquirer was also recognized in this category for the difficulty of submitted question.

Boscov’s has announced a new in-store and online partnership with Connecticut-based toy maker Melissa & Doug — and its support for the company’s Take Back Childhood campaign.

“At Melissa & Doug, we believe it’s through unstructured, open-ended play that children discover themselves, their passions and their purpose. That’s why we’ve focused for more than 30 years on making toys that nurture creativity and imagination in children,” Melissa Bernstein, co-founder of Melissa & Doug, said in a news release.

Boscov’s will have Melissa & Doug shops in all of its 47 stores — including its local store at Clearview Mall.
