Butler, SV net wrestling wins

Both teams get 7 pins in victory

Butler wrestlers produced seven pins Wednesday night as the Golden Tornado won their first dual match of the season, 60-18, at Pine-Richland.

“We were aggressive when we had to be,” Golden Tornado coach Scott Stoner said. “I liked the way we came out and kept going for it.”

Butler received pins from Colton Spohn at 132 pounds, Steven Green at 145, Nate McDonald at 152, Jack Codispot at 160, Cooper Baxter at 182, Shawndell Zapata at 220 and Caleb Hartung at heavyweight.

The Tornado received an added bonus earlier in the evening when senior Pavlog Pawluk picked up his first career victory in a junior varsity match.

Butler hosts Seneca Valley next Wednesday and Freedom next Friday.

Bowling

The Butler bowling teams swept Seneca Valley Wednesday, both winning by 7-0 scores.

Cole Thrash rolled a 603 series for the Golden Tornado boys. Jordan Reges rolled a 216 game. Ryan Thoma paced Seneca Valley with a 585 series.

Jordyn Graham paced the Tornado girls with a 236 game and 595 series. Freshman Madison Weiland rolled a 219 game, sophomore Lauren Bash a 211. Maddie Ferringer paced SV with a 199-495.

Butler hosts Mars on Monday at Family Bowelaway.

In other action:

Freeport's boys defeated Burrell, 5-2. The Yellowjacket girls lost, 7-0.

Amber Cepec led Freeport's girls with a 181 game and 575 series.

Mark Livingston was the top Yellowjacket boys' bowler, rolling a high game of 236 and a 579 series.

Freeport 72, Mohawk 68 — Jalen Brown paced five Yellowjackets in double figures, scoring 20 points in this Tuesday game. Vincent Clark added 14 points, Nolan Plocki 13, Aiden Skradski 12 and Garret Schaffhauser 11.
