Butler Twp. P.D. has police academy

The Butler Township Police Department will hold a Citizens Police Academy starting Jan. 15.

The seven-class program will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings at the township park building, 468 S. Duffy Road, and various locations around the township.

The program will cover law enforcement topics including criminal law and investigations, domestic violence issues, patrol duties, vehicle laws and traffic stops, use of force, the judicial system and other areas of law enforcement.

Applications for the program can be obtained at the police department or the municipal building, 290 S. Duffy Road.

The program is free and open to the public with priority given to township residents and business owners.

Applications are due to the police office no later than 4 p.m. Jan. 7.

A maximum of 15 participants will be accepted. The police department will contact those accepted into the program.
