Crews called to city fire

Crews responded Wednesday morning to multiple calls of a fire at a home on West Penn Street right across from Emily Brittain Elementary School.

BUTLER — Mutliple fire crews responded to a house fire on West Penn Street in Butler.

Butler City Fire Department was in charge of the scene with the VA Butler Fire Department assisting and Butler Ambulance standing by.

Part of West Penn Street between North Bluff and North Washington streets was blocked off for over an hour.

Passersby and neighbors entered the home after calling 911 to see if anyone was home, and they evacuated a dog, Sassy, from the home, according to witnesses.

The homeowner, Pam Booth, said Sassy was fine and staying with neighbors as crews worked the scene.
