SRU hoops grab victories at home

SLIPPERY ROCK — Micah Till had 25 points and 14 rebounds Saturday at Morrow Field House as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team rallied past West Chester, 78-64.

SRU (3-5, 1-1) trailed by eight points at halftime, but used a 21-10 run at the start of the second half and never trailed after that.

West Chester (6-4, 2-1) tied the game at 52 with 7:28 left, but The Rock responded with an 18-8 run to put the game away.

Jared Armstrong came off the bench to score 19 points while John Warren II had 10 points and seven assists.

SRU does not return to action until Saturday, when it travels to Salem.

SRU (women) 72, West Chester 69 — The Rock (4-4, 2-0) lost a 12-point first half lead and trailed by four with 5:31 left before rallying for the win.

Ciara Patterson made four free throws down the stretch to help close out the victory. Patterson had 18 points while Brooke Hinderliter had 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Daeja Quick had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. West Chester dropped to 4-6 overall, 0-3 in the PSAC.

Garrett CC 88, Butler County Community College 82 — Joel Stutz scored 24 points, Jace Stutz 19 for the Pioneers. Andrew Yonker added 17 points and Josh Knochel 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Garrett CC 74, Butler County Community College (women) 70 — Mackenzie Craig had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Pioneers. Casey Kretzer contributed 22 points and eight rebounds, Carly Burdett 12 points.
