Seeking exceptions

I read in Tuesday’s Eagle (“School closures,” Nov. 20, Page 3) that Superintendent Brian White “said he has already drafted a letter to state level administrators asking that Butler’s two missed days from last week’s ice storm be considered emergency exceptions from the state’s 180 school day requirement.”

I’m surprised. I wouldn’t have expected that particular decision so quickly. I would have thought maybe he would try to reschedule those school days instead.
