CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, observes Holy Communion at both Sunday services.

A potluck dinner follows the 11 a.m. Sunday service in Oz Hall.

Sunday is the last day to order poinsettias for the Christmas service.

The St. Vincent DePaul Food Cupboard team meets at 8 a.m. Monday.

The Men’s Fellowship group meets at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Eat ’n Park, 214 New Castle Road.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext., will have Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. followed by Communion worship service at 10:30 a.m.

This is the First Sunday of Advent. The lighting of the Advent Candle will take place, and Ron and Barb McKissick will read Advent devotions.

The Deacons will meet after the worship service Sunday.

The AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Weight Watchers meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 and at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 8.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., hosts the AIBCWP Thanksgiving dinner and service beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The ladies Bible study is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dittmer home.

The Shop@216 will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The children’s Christmas party will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The Berean Christmas banquet begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

There will be an 8:30 a.m. prayer service Sunday, followed by a 9:15 a.m. breakfast, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school and 11 a.m. worship service.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., takes part in the Butler Symphony Holiday Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the holiday basket raffle and church tour will be offered until 3 p.m.

The First Sunday of Advent worship service is at 10 a.m. Sunday.

On Wednesday, a celebration of the season of Advent will include a dinner at 6:15 p.m. followed by a 7:15 p.m. worship service. All are welcome and are asked to take a dish to share at the dinner.

GRACE @ CALVARY

The men of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., are invited to the BALM gathering of men at Trinity Lutheran Church, at 8 a.m. Saturday for breakfast, fellowship and conversation.

The Advent luncheon and craft is Sunday immediately following worship. Lunch will be served and participants will make a craft together to celebrate the beginning of the Advent season and prepare for the birth of Jesus.

The next gathering for young adults (21-plus) will be 12:15 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pig Iron in Cranberry Township.

Volunteers from Grace @ Calvary will serve the community dinner at First English Lutheran Church on Monday. Volunteers should be at First English at 4 p.m. to help set up and serve the dinner which starts at 5 p.m.

Butler Relay for Life will hold its meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the social hall. Grace’s relay team, Marty’s Marchers, is invited.

The Advent midweek soup and study will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday with dinner, and study will begin at 6:30 p.m. All are invited every Wednesday during Advent.

Ladies’ night out is at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., celebrates the Lord’s Supper on Sunday.

The women’s book club meets at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

The handbell choir will rehearse immediately following the Sunday worship service.

The installation for the Rev. Leigh Benish will be at 4 p.m. Sunday. Representatives from the Beaver Butler Presbytery will take part in the service. A light dinner hosted by the nurture committee will follow the service.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

The Locking Arms men’s ministry of Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., meets from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Wednesday at Mac’s Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road, and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kings Restaurant, 191 New Castle Road.

The sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed Sunday.

NEW ZION EVANGELICAL CONGREGATIONAL

New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 1195 Airport Road, Emlenton, has its annual Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday. Each family should take a dish to share and its own table service. Any who are unable to bring food are also welcome. For more information, call 724-867-0165.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, is collecting new, unwrapped gifts for the Lighthouse Christmas Shoppe until Dec. 9. Families in need will be able to “shop” for presents for children up to age 16. There is a special need for gifts for teenagers.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

Orchard Hill Butler County worships at 107 Staley Ave.

The Core group gathering at 9:45 a.m. Sunday will prepare for the Christmas season and pray for the Butler community. This will be followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

PARK UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, will have its annual Boar’s Head Festival at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 and at 5 p.m. Dec. 9, featuring a one-hour medieval celebration of Epiphany and the birth of Christ.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., celebrates the Lord’s Supper during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The Christmas Cookie Walk will be Dec. 8. Volunteers are needed to bake cookies, help set up the Bethany Room Dec. 7, and work the day of the event. Sign up in the narthex or call the church office at 724-287-4777 to volunteer.

Order forms and payments for placing a poinsettia in the sanctuary are due in the church office Dec. 12.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, will host the annual congregational meeting after the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, celebrates Holy Communion during the First Sunday of Advent worship service.

The cause of the month for December is the local chapter of the Salvation Army.

In addition, the church will support a Salvation Army family with gifts that are shown on the sign-up sheet being passed around the congregation. The gifts need to be returned to the church by Dec. 9.

There will be a short meeting after the worship service Sunday to review the proposed 2019 church operating budget and for nominations to replace the outgoing officers for the church council and the cemetery association.

ST. JOHN’S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

St. John’s United Church of Christ at 501 E. Main St., Evans City, celebrates Holy Communion during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Consistory will meet after worship Sunday.

The “Cookies from the Heart” sale is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The praise team practice is 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by choir practice at 7 p.m.

ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 215 N. Main St., Zelienople, will have its annual cookie walk from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9. At least 12 different kinds of cookies will be available.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will host the BALM men’s breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday.

A toy drive will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and at 5 p.m. Monday.

The pastor’s Advent/Christmas preparation class will begin Sunday during the Sunday school hour.

Christian Ed. will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the executive committee will meet at 5:45 p.m. and worship and music committee will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Women’s Bible study will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 6.
