Woman injured in car accident on her way to buy Thanksgiving turkey

MIDDLESEX TWP — A woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 8 Tuesday morning reportedly on her way to purchase a turkey for Thanksgiving.

Concerned there wouldn't be any turkeys left to buy — a fear that was realized — she told police she was rushing to Dave's Country Meats, around 9:48 a.m. driving south on Route 8.

As she pulled into the meat store, a Ram 350 truck traveling north clipped the rear passenger side of the Jaguar she was driving, police said.

The woman was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township by Quality EMS. Officer Mark Heider said the driver hit the steering wheel on impact.

Police said the driver of the truck appeared uninjured.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
