Tuesday — Kaylyn M. Frishkorn, 29, of Evans City was charged with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a call last month for a woman slumped over the wheel of a vehicle on the 800 block of West New Castle Street.

Police said they found Frishkorn about 4:10 a.m. Oct. 27 in the vehicle that was stopped and still running with the four-way flashers on, according to court documents.

An officer had to knock on the window before the defendant reacted, police said. She allegedly admitted to having consumed “a few” alcoholic drinks earlier that night. Police said they also smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle, according to court documents, turned up a marijuana pipe in the glove box.

The defendant was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test after showing impairment during field sobriety testing. Toxicology results indicated she had marijuana in her system.

Additionally, documents said, her blood-alcohol level was 0.161 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Frishkorn is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

12:12 a.m. Thursday — Wayne Robert Johnson, 36, of Gibsonia was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after police found him in possession of crack cocaine and heroin after a traffic stop on Randolph Street.

6:28 a.m. Wednesday — Brandon Lee Russell, 25, of Saxonburg was charged with retail theft for stealing a virtual reality headset from Walmart. The headset costs $129, police report.

6:44 a.m. Wednesday — Pat Morris, 67, of Prospect flipped his vehicle while driving eastbound on Route 422 near the road’s Benbrook Road overpass. Morris had a minor injury and was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital, police report.

Wednesday — Kristopher M. Steighner, 37, of Jefferson Township was charged with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a one-vehicle crash last month in Summit Township.

Police said Steighner’s pickup truck Oct. 5 ended off the road and against a tree at Protzman Road and Valley View Drive. A trooper said that when he approached the truck he saw the defendant laying on the ground on the driver’s side.

Steighner told police that he was on his way to his girlfriend’s house, according to court documents, when he hit the tree. He admitted having three beers and three alcoholic drinks.

He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Police later got a search warrant for a blood draw. Steighner’s toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.174 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

6:50 a.m. Nov. 6 — Dylan J. Kurucz, 25, of Glassport, Allegheny County, was allegedly caught with drug contraband after a traffic incident in South Buffalo Township. Police said they found Kurucz in a vehicle that was stopped on the side of Route 28 at Exit 18. An officer got to the vehicle and noticed a marijuana pipe on the driver’s side floor. Kurucz was arrested and later arraigned on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 29 — Angie D. Greenawalt, 44, of Rimersburg was arraigned on charges she illegally tried to buy a firearm at Boggs Township gun store in September.

Police said Greenawalt allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required Sept. 1 when she attempted to buy a handgun from J&J Gun Shop on Route 28/66.

She is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor. She is free on $20,000 unsecured bail.
