Shannon Bitzer of Cranberry Township and Laurena Shick of Zelienople, are members of Ashland University’s Fashion in Action.

Bitzer, a 2015 graduate of Seneca Valley High School, is majoring in fashion merchandise.

Shick, a 2015 graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School, is majoring in fashion merchandise.

The mission of the Ashland University’s Fashion in Action Organization is to provide help to fashion merchandising and/or Ashland students interested in the fashion industry to gain hands-on experience in the fashion industry.

The Seneca Valley Academic Decathlon Team, for the second time this year, placed first in a regional Academic Decathlon Competition at Northwestern High School Nov. 3.

The SV team, that competed against 15 other schools, also finished first in a live “Super Quiz Relay” event.

Seniors Katie Bablak and Rishin Sharma both won overall gold medals as two of the overall highest scoring students and both medaled in the categories of economics, math, science and social science.

Mark Hemmerlin, senior, won an overall silver and won in the events of math and science.

Junior Nishant Jayachandran won an overall silver and medaled in economics and speech.

Senior Katie Parker medaled in science and speech and junior Logan Glatz won in the categories of science and social science.

INDIANA, Indiana County — Cole McSwaney of Mars was part of a team from Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Eberly College of Business and Information Technology that successfully reached the international level of a case-study competition conducted by APICS, the Association for Supply Chain Management.

A recent graduate, McSwaney is a dual major in supply chain, human resources and psychology. While at IUP, he was president of the IUP Association for Supply Chain Management.
