Butler County Veterans In Need raised nearly $2,500 at Hops for Heroes, a fundraiser held Saturday at Missing Links Brewery, 891 Evans City Road, Renfrew. Veterans in Need, led by Brian Christy, held a basket raffle, a 50/50 raffle and a gun raffle to raise money while the brewery donated a portion of the day’s sales to Vets in Need. Four members of American Legion Post 778 and VFW Post 249 Honor Guard conducted a flag-raising ceremony; as the flag was raised, the honor guard and veterans in attendance saluted the flag as the Star Spangled Banner was played. Dan Kos and Steve Spence, owners of Missing Links Brewery, presented a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol that was donated by Congressman Mike Kelly to Brian Christy of Butler County Veterans In Need to commemorate the event.
