2:55 a.m. Wednesday — Juan C. Hernandez-Sanchez, 30, of Butler Township was arrested for drunken driving after his car collided with a police cruiser on the 400 block of Center Avenue.

Hernandez-Sanchez appeared impaired and he was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.147 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He is charged with drunken driving.

1:58 p.m. Tuesday — Jeremy W. Leduc, 26, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at his apartment on Greenview Drive.

The victim told police that she and Leduc got into an argument, and she tried to hide from him in a bedroom, according to court documents. She recounted that she closed the door and pushed a dresser in front of the door,

Leduc forced open the door, documents said, which knocked over the dresser. He allegedly grabbed her by the hair and “shook her head about,” according to a police affidavit.

Police described the victim’s injuries as facial bruising. She also complained of head and neck pain. She was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Leduc was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

11:14 p.m. Saturday — Nicholas J. Morabito, 24, of Butler was allegedly caught with suspected marijuana following a traffic stop on Old Plank Road.

Police said Morabito was pulled over for a headlight violation. A subsequent search of his vehicle, according to a police report, turned what appeared to be marijuana wax, marijuana pipes and a half full can of beer.

Morabito is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with an open container of alcohol, driving without headlights and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.

7:09 p.m. Sunday — A Harrisville man was arrested for drunken driving on North Broad Street. The defendant, Dane M. Hutchinson, 27, was stopped for not having his headlights on, police said.

Hutchinson is charged with driving under the influence and a lighting violation.

[naviga:h3]Saxonburg Police[/naviga:h3]

Oct. 29 — John Gizienski, 51, of Saxonburg was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from an earlier traffic incident on West Main Street.

Police said they were called at 8:44 p.m. Oct. 20 for a male at a coffee shop slumped over in his car. An officer found Gizienski, who appear to be passed out in the driver’s seat, court documents said.

Police eventually awakened the defendant. He appeared impaired, police said, and he was unable to perform field sobriety tests due to a previous knee injury. He was taken to the Butler police station for a breath test.

The test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.224 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Gizienski is charged with driving under the influence.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

2 p.m. Nov. 1 — Michael D. Van Zandt, 43, of Emlenton was arrested after he allegedly violated a woman’s protection from abuse order in Allegheny Township.

He is accused of “flipping off” the woman, according to court documents, and yelling to her that she was “(expletive) dead”” while he drove past her at Route 38 and Sandy Point Road.

Police charged him with indirect criminal contempt. He is free on his own recognizance with a no-contact order in place.
