12:34 a.m. Thursday — Jeffrey L. Davenport, 28, no known address, was arrested on charges he returned to the A-Plus convenience store on West Jefferson Street after repeated warnings that he was not permitted there.

Police said a clerk told them that the defendant showed up at the front door and called him derogatory names. The clerk told Davenport to leave but he refused, according to court documents.

Officers were called and found the suspect on the street. A police records check, documents noted, found that the defendant since Nov. 1 had been involved in six similar incidents at four different stores in the city, three of them at the A-Plus. He had been advised not to return to four of those stores.

Police said they believed Davenport was intoxicated. They also found him with two drug-smoking pipes.

Davenport was arraigned on charges of trespass, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail following arraignment.

1:15 a.m. Wednesday — Jeffrey E. Perritt, 57, of Butler was allegedly caught with marijuana at the A-Plus on West Jefferson Street. Police found Perritt after making a follow-up stop stemming from a previous incident at the store involving him.

An officer later found suspected marijuana inside a bag belonging to the defendant in a vehicle at the store. Perritt is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

1:01 a.m. Tuesday — Two women wanted on bench warrants were both allegedly caught with drug contraband at West New Castle and Broad streets.

Police stopped, arrested and searched the defendants — Rose M. Comly, 53, of Butler Township and Trina M. Holderman, 29, of Pitcairn, Allegheny County.

Comly was found with two crack pipes in her coat pocket, according to court documents. Holderman also had a crack pipe in her bra.

Additionally, police said, Holderman’s purse contained used syringes, two metal spoons with white powder residue and suspected drug-packaging materials.

Comly and Holderman are both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday — A thief stole unspecified items after breaking into a vehicle at the Sunbury Fields parking lot in Center Township. The theft happened between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Friday. Police have no suspects.

1:02 a.m. Nov. 3 — Christopher W. Durham, 52, was arrested on charges he strangled his stepfather during a domestic dispute at his home on the 100 block of Hannahstown Road in Jefferson Township.

The victim told police that Durham placed him in a headlock, according to court documents, which impeded his breathing. The defendant also allegedly struck the victim in the back of the head.

Durham was arraigned in a felony charge of strangulation and a summary charge of harassment. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.

Oct. 29 — Erik M. Bergh, 27, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Brady Township. He was stopped about 9:50 p.m. Sept. 22, police said for crossing the yellow and white lines in his lane and for speeding on Route 8 near Euclid Road.

Berg admitted that he had one drink earlier in the evening, according to court documents. He subsequently showed impairment during field sobriety testing.

Police took him to the barracks for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.146 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Bergh is charged with driving under the influence, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, speeding, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

Oct. 26 — Police charged Craig E. Cyphert, 48, of Franklin Township with having crack cocaine and other drug contraband stemming from a January traffic stop in Butler. He was stopped on the 600 block of North McKean Street about 1:20 p.m. Jan. 7 for an expired inspection sticker on his car.

A consent search of the car later turned up a container with suspected crack and a white pill, according to court documents. Police said they also found two crack pipes and three straws with white residue.

Cyphert is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

8:22 p.m. Oct. 18 — Joseph E. Hinchberger, 64, of Portersville was arrested for DUI after he was pulled over for swerving in his lane on Route 422 just east of Pleasant Valley Road in Muddy Creek Township.

Police said Hinchberger failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.159 percent.

In addition to DUI, he is charged with careless driving, failing to keep right and failing to carry his driver’s license.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

10:54 p.m. Thursday — Craig J. Minton, 22, of Cabot was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 south at exit 18 in South Buffalo Township.

Minton was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin for a blood test. Police said charges are pending toxicology results.

9:49 p.m. Thursday — Daniel J. Blackburn, 52, was arrested after he allegedly threatened a 43-year-old woman with a handgun at his home on the 100 block of East Main Street in Worthington.

Police said Blackburn put the gun against the woman’s head and threatened to shoot her and himself. He is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.

3:12 p.m. Wednesday — Jeffrey J. Rood, 65, of Adrian lost control of his car apparently after falling asleep at the wheel and struck a utility pole along Route 268 just east of Snyder Road in East Franklin Township.

Rood, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured but his car had to be towed. The East Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
