More details emerge in overnight fatal shooting, related stabbing

UPDATE: 11:20 P.M.A Butler man was fatally shot near the corner of West Cunningham Street and Wagner Avenue and another man stabbed early this morning.Authorities have confirmed that the shooting, which occured about 1:25 a.m., and stabbing are related.Adam Selfridge, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:40 a.m., said Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr.Selfridge appeared to have been shot once in the chest, possibly by a 9 mm handgun. An autopsy was planned, possibly later this afternoon.He died a short distance from his upstairs apartment in a house on the 400 block of West Cunningham Street. A pocket knife was reportedly found near his body that was found in the middle of Wagner Avenue.He was dressed in a T-shirt, jacket and sweat pants.About 10 minutes after the shooting and about a mile away on Zeigler Avenue, authorities said, a man called 911 to report that he had been stabbed.The man's identity was not released. He told a county dispatcher that he had been stabbed in the torso.Police said Butler Ambulance Service were called and the man was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. He reportedly was later flown by medical helicopter to an unknown Pittsburgh hospital.The extent of his injuries and his condition were not available.
