Moniteau runs away to another victory

Warriors rumble for 432 yards, beat Punxsutawney, 32-21

Moniteau rushed for 432 yards and five touchdowns and the Warrior defense held Punxsutawney to just 243 yards in a 32-21 road win Friday night.

Cody Wise had another strong game on the ground with 233 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Chance Nagy added 80 yards and two scores on the ground.

Trent Kelly got in on the action as well with 94 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown.

The Warriors (5-4) also received nine tackles on defense by Wise.

Moniteau will close out the regular season next week at home against Keystone before the District 9 Class AA playoffs.

Oil City 28, Slippery Rock 10 — Vito Pilosi scored on a 10-yard run in the fourth quarter, but the Rockets fell behind big at the half and couldn't dig out of the hole.

Christian Cole, who came into the game for Oil City with 2,450 yards and 24 touchdowns, scored three times on runs of 1, 21 and 55 yards for the Oilers.

Cole finished with 218 yards on 35 carries.

Cam Russell also scored on a long run, his from 56 yards out for Oil City.

After a scoreless first quarter, Slippery Rock trailed 16-3 at the half.

Nathaniel Willison provided the only points for the Rockets with a 25-yard field goal to cut the lead at the time to 8-3.

Pilosi finished with 78 yards on 14 carries. He also completed 7 of 12 for 70 yards.

David Duffalo had five receptions for 46 yards for the Rockets (6-3).

Steel Valley 48, Summit Academy 0 — The Knights fell behind 35-0 at the half to drop to 0-9.

No other information was available.

Cross Country

Butler's boys placed fifth out of 28 schools and the girls eighth out of 27 in the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet Thursday at California (Pa.) University.

Aden Dressler and Skyler Vavro were medalists for the Golden Tornado boys. Also running well were Tim Patterson, Josh Fry and Nathan Monday.

On the girls side, Chelsey Kabel and Jennifer Cichra placed 27th and 28th, respectively, for Butler. Autumn Pettinato, Liz Simms and Aubree Tack rounded out the Tornado scoring.

The WPIAL Cross Country Championships are Thursday at California. The top three teams and 15 individuals not on those teams qualify for the PIAA Championships Nov. 3.

Private Schools

Elijah White scored two goals to pace Portersville Christian School's soccer team to a recent 3-1 playoff victory over Robinson Christian.

The Warriors improved to 17-1 on the season.
